The Story
Goldilocks is a 16mm film with animated elements about two latch-key siblings, Ramona and Lenny, coming-of-age in 1989. The animation in the film operates as the psyche of our protagonist, Ramona, an 11 year old kid, whose emotions manifest as an animated layer over the world. The rumor that a cougar is prowling their Northeastern town seems quite the tall tale, but after a cow is found eaten — it stirs fear. While foraging mushrooms behind her house, Ramona discovers a signature paw print and senses a spiritual connection between them. Mesmerized by its power, she seeks to understand the animal’s presence while her moody teenager brother Lenny strangely aims to destroy it. Meanwhile, Ramona randomly finds Lenny’s gay porn magazines and wonders where he’s been sneaking off to lately. Longing for his companionship, she secretly pursues him into the woods where far from home, they come face to face with the mountain lion.
